Vibo Valentia (formerly Monteleone di Calabria) is a municipality of Calabria with 33,635 inhabitants and it is the capital of the same province. The location of the town, nestled on the gentle slope of a hill (476 metres above sea level), has had an important strategic role. It has been a significant crossroads since ancient Greece and the Roman Empire, it dominates the hinterland, the mountain range of the Serre, and the maritime area with its port and its excellent tourist resorts.
